Our Heart and Soul is Our Team
A Family Run Dojo
We at Red Dragon Martial Arts try to live the philosophy of karatedo, and are determined to create a dojo (martial arts school) that truly expresses the essence of martial arts: honest, strong, forthright, and imbued with a strong spirit of compassion. That’s why Red Dragon Martial Arts is a family-run organization.
Our mission at Red Dragon Martial Arts is to make a profound difference in the lives of the students we teach. By using martial arts as a vessel, we are dedicated to helping people of all ages build character, leadership skills, physical fitness, and mental focus & discipline. But most importantly, our dojo strives to help our students develop the awareness, confidence, and self-defense skills necessary to protect themselves and those they love from bullying, domestic abuse, and random acts of violence.
Our Students
The dojo (martial arts school) has a primary responsibility to teach and support our students in their life goals to “become better” -- and that includes supporting our students as they explore what “becoming better” means to them.
As a dojo, we practice ren ma -- constant improvement -- and we want to make sure that we’re offering the best martial arts instruction, services, and products, we can provide at the lowest possible cost to you.
Our dojo gains revenue from only one source: tuition. And we do our best to keep our costs as low as possible to continually offer you the best value for your money. Further, we do not charge outrageous prices for rank promotions, have special “blackbelt clubs”, require contracts, mandate participation in school-run tournaments, or do anything else that might be ethically questionable.
Our business practices reflect our karate: honest, strong, forthright, and imbued with a strong spirit of compassion. That's why we do not require contracts from our students. Our students know they can cancel their student memberships or put them “on-hold” at any time, if necessary. Martial Arts is a life-long journey, and we look forward to helping you along your path, every step of the way; but we also realize that life throws challenges and unexpected surprises at us along the way, and we're here to help you with those as well.
A Way of Life
We teach karatedo in a variety of ways: on the dojo floor during class, in our Leadership Challenge and Fitness Challenge programs, and throughout our community with our outreach programs. Perhaps most importantly is how we lead our students to becoming better versions of themselves, with a goal to go out and peacefully create a better world .
Being a family-run school is a part of our path in karatedo, and we are very proud of the choices that we’ve made to support that path. We are united in our path and philosophy, which supports what karatedo is at its core.
Martial arts is a way of life which stresses that people should live in peace and harmony. Martial arts philosophy emphasizes the essence of self-control, respect for others, and an ongoing journey to strive for the best in life. Perhaps most significant, is its emphasis on the fortification of the mind, body, and spirit. Its teachings emphasize that a true martial artist must become physically, mentally, and emotionally strong enough to take on life's challenges, and avoid violence with a goal of creating a peaceful world.
